Graduation Documentary Film
2018
Production: Freie Universität Berlin
Direction, Sound, Image and Editing: Maya Perusin Mysorekar
Synopsis: This is an experimental short film that deals with the resistance of two Black German women in my family and the forms of resistance that shape their lives. The protagonists are Sheila Mysorekar, who wrote the text ‘Resistance. Poetry of Survival,’ which she read aloud for this short film; the other is Diana Munyakazi, who danced her thesis ‘Coming Out’ on the subject of racism at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden in 1992, the film adaptation of which was available to me as archive material. Both works of art merge in this short film to create a new work that not only reflects their resistance, but is also resistance itself.

Un moment de grève
A Strike Moment
10’22’’
Student Documentary Film
2019
Production: Aix-Marseille University
Director: Maya Perusin Mysorekar
Synopsis: Visible or invisible work, paid or unpaid work, material or immaterial work, traditional or new work, etc. Working does not only mean doing one’s job, but also being part of society and helping to shape it. Strikes have always played an important role in enabling workers to defend themselves or fight for their rights. On 5 December 2019, an indefinite strike began throughout France.
The aim of this inter-professional mobilisation was to challenge the proposed pension reforms. The CGT Cheminots union also called for mobilisation. Here, I film the work of organising a railway strike. I question the strike as a moment of work: a moment of collective protest, like work for work’s sake. If people come together collectively to maintain or improve their working conditions, it is because work is being invented in part at that moment.

In addition, the responsibilities and division of tasks among the various elements are very complex.
